Believe it or not, the last-gen Ford GT is now 15 years old. Despite its age, though, it can still impress on a straight-line speed test.

The Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds YouTube channel managed to get ahold of a 2005 Ford GT for a recent top-speed runway test, and got it to crack 200 mph over 2.7 miles of asphalt, with a maximum recorded speed of 203 mph. The coolest part? It was still steadily accelerating when it crossed the finish line. Given some more space, we think it could've easily hit its manufacturer-quoted 205-mph top speed.

The '05 GT might not be as technically advanced or as lightweight as the current 650-horsepower Ecoboost-powered version, but it's no slouch. Behind the cabin sits a 5.4-liter supercharged DOHC V-8 making 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. It's no surprise it can go beyond 200 mph. We're glad that despite rising collector values, people are still out there pushing GTs like this one to the limit.
