C8 Corvette owners are starting to get more and more comfortable with their cars, meaning we're starting to see more great on-track clips of the cars dominating track days and HPDE events.

This latest clip from the Speed Phenom YouTube channel takes us inside the cabin of a Z51-pack equipped Corvette as it laps Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Equipped with the high wing option, it's able to pass a number of cars, including a Porsche 911 GT3, before catching up to a blue Dodge Viper ACR—one of the most track-oriented production cars ever built, and a record-holder at numerous road courses around America.

Despite the Corvette's massive 150-horsepower deficit, lack of intense aerodynamic pieces, and narrower tires, it's able to keep up with the V-10-powered Dodge on the challenging California track. Give it up to the C8's balanced mid-engine layout, torquey push-rod engine, and fast-shifting dual-clutch transmission. Of course, driver skill also played a role—remember, car's can't be quick on their own, you have to know how to drive them to extract their full potential.
