In order to get reliably cold and snowy conditions, automakers frequent certain areas of the Arctic Circle to cold-weather test new cars. If you're a native of a town like Arjeplog, Sweden, then you probably see all sorts of new cars in camo sliding around on the snowy roads daily, and it doesn't make you turn your head. But for a visitor, it's a big deal.

Our deputy editor, Raphael Orlove, is up in Arjeplog right now doing testing with a car we can't talk about, but as he walked out of his hotel this morning, this was parked outside.

Yes, there's some camo obscuring logos and details, but it's obviously AMG's new, SL-based, GT coupe. Orlove only saw it briefly while running out of the hotel to catch a shuttle, so what can we glean from these photos?

The biggest development is that, like the SL, the next GT appears to be all-wheel drive, judging from the hubs shown on the car. Of course, many performance cars have gone that route in recent years as power levels have increased and it's become increasingly hard to put power down through the rear wheels.

As for the rest, well, it looks quite similar to the current GT with some nips and tucks, with the rear more reminiscent of the AMG GT four-door. It also looks slightly longer, which could mean there are rear seats like in the SL.

Hopefully we'll get more details soon, perhaps as soon as when Orlove gets back to his hotel...
